When I was developing my online mindset coaching program, School of Champions, there was a question I really wanted to include in the first step of the course.
It’s a question I ask myself all the time, but I almost didn’t include it in the final version of the program.
I thought it seemed too basic, too obvious to have any real impact on the people in my course. I thought people would see it, think “God, Turia, be original would you?” and then give up on the entire course (I’m nothing if not a tad dramatic at times! ?).
Anyway, to cut a long story short, I did end up including it and, lo and behold, it’s become one of the most powerful and game-changing questions I ask in the entire program.
Seriously. So many of my SOC-ers have told me that this question completely changed the way they looked at their life – and what direction they wanted to take next.
All in one question? Yep, this is some Harry Potter level sh*t ?
ANYWAY, the point is, I think it’s time to share this little q with you too.
Grab a pen and some paper and write down your a to this q:
“What would you do if you could not fail?”
i.e. If money was no issue, if you knew nothing would stop you, if there was no failure to fear, if you knew you would succeed – what would you do? What would you attempt? What dreams would you chase?
I told you, right? It’s a really simple question. One I’m sure you’ve seen before.
But it has this effect of totally shifting your perspective on life.
For me, it’s an invigorating question. It makes me feel pumped for the future.
And look, I know we’re not curing cancer here (unless that was your answer!) but I reckon this question can change lives.
Think about it – to answer this question, you have to strip out all your fears (fear of failure, or rejection) and envision what you actually WANT to do in your life, not what you need to do or have to do.
And in my book, that’s pretty epic.
After all, the best things happen when we are led by excitement, not fear – Tweet it!
So, give it a go!
Oh, and wanna know my answer?
Well, I’ll show you mine if you show me yours!
Let me know your a to this q in the comments below.
And my answer? Well, as of this morning, here is a couple of things I would do if I could not fail:
- Sail like a traditional Tahitian navigator
- Live in a lighthouse
- Compete in Iditarod
- Finally do my doctorate
- Live with the Kalahari Bushmen
- Fly a helicopter
See you when I’m flying my chopper to a lighthouse in a Tahitian atoll, with my pack of racing huskies by my side!
