The productivity hack that’s keeping me sane

By March 1, 2018One Comment

Hey champ,

If you’re following me on Instagram, you’ll know I’ve been sharing some updates on how life has changed since I became a Mum.

Because, really, a lot has changed!

One of the biggest adjustments for me has been accepting that I can’t do everything on my To Do list anymore. Instead of setting out to achieve ten things each day, I’ve found that I can only aim to achieve three. Maximum three. If I can achieve just ONE thing from that list, I feel like the day has been a win.

And if everything goes to shit (quite literally, haha!) I prioritize something that makes me feel good.

This is something I’ve been giving a bit of thought (in between nappy changes and late night feeds).

Maybe we should all stop trying to achieve so many things each day.

Tim Ferris has this productivity “hack” or strategy for stressful times that he swears by, and I think it’s bang on.

I’ve taken the exact same approach whenever life has gotten overwhelming – be that because of a newborn baby, a busy time at work, or just those times when life feels insane.

I thought I should share my take on this strategy with you:

Step One: Grab a pen and paper and write down 3-5 things that you really need to achieve.
Step Two: For each item, ask yourself:
“If this is the only thing I can do today, will I feel good?”
Step Three: Look only at the items you’ve answered “yes” to.
Step Four: Pick one of these items, JUST ONE and make this your priority for the day. Don’t worry about the others. You can get to the next most important task tomorrow.

That’s it!

By focusing your energy on the things that actually count, you can overcome overwhelm.

Or at least stop it in its tracks for a day or so!

Give it a try and let me know if it works for you in the comments below.

PS – Something else that has been majorly helpful is having a bunch of healthy meals ready to go at all times. Super Nature meals have gotten Michael and I through many bare pantry days!  The champs at Super Nature have been backing me since Ironman, and if you’ve tried their meals, you’ll know they’re legit delish.

Now they want you to win a super stash, just like this one, plus a signed book from yours truly ?

All you gotta do is be all creative and post a photo of your @supernaturefoods meal to Insta, follow and tag @supernaturefoods and use #MadeOfIncredibleStuff and #SuperNatureFoods.

There’s 10 to be won, so good luck legends!

PPS  I’m stoked to speaking at the National Achievers Congress in Brisbane this May! I’ll be alongside Tony Robbins, Michelle Bridges and Naomi Simson, and tickets are selling really fast. If you want to come along, check out all the info here.

    Hey Turia.
Hope this is where I’m suppose to reply to the suggestions above.

My one thing to do is to run! I love doing it when I actually “do it”. So today I ran about 500 or so metres.

I barely got myself moving but that was my plan as I just need to be ok with the stage I’m at for once in my life.
I’m always in front of myself in my head.
Unnecessary pressure is a problem for me because I burn out and stop doing the things I love.
So that’s my one thing for today.
    Thanks for the help:)
