From self loathing  ….. to self acceptance and self love

After the fire, I had a whole new body. One that looked, moved and felt completely different to the one I knew.

And, to be honest, I hated it.

I hatred how I looked and I hated how unable I felt.

So, how did I get from this place of self loathing and revulsion to a place of self acceptance… and self love? That’s what I’m going to explore in these audio notes.

Plus, six tips that will help you on your self love journey too.

Hi! I’m Turia Pitt.

Best-selling author, motivational speaker, and Mum to two delightful little human tornadoes boys.

Back in 2011, I was caught in an out-of-control grassfire while competing in a 100 km ultramarathon in the Australian outback.

I was choppered out of the remote desert barely alive, with full-thickness burns to 65% of my body. I lost seven fingers, had over 200 medical procedures, and spent two gruelling years in recovery.

And, in the years immediately after the fire, the relationship I had with my body was BRUTAL. My self-love level was literally at zero. 

I mean, I’d found myself in a hospital bed with my physical abilities completely stripped away, a pair of scarred limbs for legs, clunky hands that I couldn’t use. 

On top of that, my boyfriend became my carer and I was completely dependent on him to do the most basic of tasks – brushing my hair, cutting up my food, getting dressed.

I hated how I looked, I hated how unable I felt, and I hated the platitudes people would deal out to me on a daily basis. Like hearing “beauty is only skin deep’ from someone at the shops only made me feel worse about myself.

So, how did I change that? 

Well, that’s what I’ll share with you in these love notes.

Since those early days, I’ve done some pretty cool stuff, like writing three best-selling books, coaching over 40,000 people inside my digital courses, and competing in the Ironman World Championships. And, I’m in a place where I love and accept who I am (and I think I’m a babe, so there’s that too!).

I’ve learnt a lot about self love. It’s big and it’s complex, and I’m pumped to share a few starting tips and thoughts with you.
