Hey champ,
I wanna talk to you about happiness.
See a few weeks ago, I started asking people what they felt they needed in their life.
Overwhelmingly, their answer was ‘happiness’ – or some version of that. Some people said they wanted ‘more confidence’ or ‘a brighter outlook’ but many responded with ‘to be happy’.
Can you relate?
I can.
I’ve been there. And you know what? Sometimes I’m still there.
We all have times when happiness and that ‘stoked-on-life’ feeling is nowhere to be found. Maybe it’s stress keeping it at bay or fear or an overwhelming ‘To Do’ list. Sometimes it can just be hard to find what makes you feel happy.
But here’s something I want you to remember:
Your happiness depends on you. No one else can ‘make you happy’. That’s your job. – Tweet it.
It’s a lesson I learnt a couple of years after the fire. I realised that despite all the help and support I had around me, I still needed to be the one in control of my own happiness.
So, I started to develop a list of things that made me feel good.
Over the years they became what I call my ‘Happiness Manifesto’.
It’s a list of things that I know I need to do to in order to feel happy and I want to share it with you!
I’m gonna be on Facebook Live tonight to step you through the different tips in my Happiness Manifesto. So, tune in at 7pm AEDT on my Facebook page to chat with me. You can ask me any question you have and I’ll share all my best happy tips with you!
I’ll also share a link to get a pdf version of my Manifesto so you can keep it on hand and try out all my tips for yourself!
If you can’t join me then, that’s ok, I’m gonna share one of my failsafe happiness-creating tips with you now.
Are you ready?
Here it is:
Happiness Tip No. 1: Get outside!
I know, it’s so simple! But getting out into nature is one of the BEST ways for me to re-connect with myself and what makes me feel good about life. There’s something about being out in the fresh air that can shift my perspective almost immediately to one that is more positive, more open, and yes, happier.
It’s one of the reasons I’m so excited about my next fundraising adventure in Nepal. I’m heading over with 25 other legends to raise funds and awareness for Interplast.
It’s going to be a big challenge, but I’m excited for my trekkers to take on the Himalayas, to experience being out amongst the mountains, taking on an adventure and getting an epic boost for their happy levels!
Just this week I was testing out some Mountain Designs gear (as evidenced by the model worm below hahaha) and within 15 minutes of being out in the bush, I was calmer, more relaxed and had a noticeably happier attitude.
So, that’s just one of the tips that make up my Happiness Manifesto, brought to you by the literal ‘snug as a bug’ sleeping bag girl!
I’d love to hear from you – what are the things that make you feel good about life?
And a question from me: Are you prioritising those things enough?
Let me know in the comments below.
Turia xx

Today my husband and I went to the doggy beach with our 6 month old Staffys, we had the beach to ourselves and it was wonderful to stroll along the the gentle tide of the Indian Ocean while smiling at my 2 nutter dogs having a blast. Life is good today .
