“It is the lives we encounter that make life worth living” – Guy de Maupassant
While I’m not a huge Australia Day celebrator, I do love taking a day every year to completely focus on celebrating my mates. If there’s one thing I love about this country and Australian culture, it’s the value we place on friendships and building comradery within our communities.
Maybe this is because I grew up in a small coastal town where everyone knows each other, or maybe it’s because of the friendships I’ve developed with other survivors of the ultramarathon, but I’m big on community.
MY GOOD FRIEND AND I
It’s something I spoke about last week, but I truly believe that you are the sum of the people that surround you.
Throughout my journey, I’ve been so incredibly lucky to be supported by extraordinary people. I always had an immensely dedicated and driven team of people around me constantly pushing me to be the best version of myself.
With the support of community, you can achieve anything! So make sure you’re surrounding yourself with people that inspire you to love, achieve and succeed.
I hope you all get a chance to celebrate the people who make a difference in your life next week.
Until next time,
Turia xx
