Got something you want to achieve? Here’s how to make it easier…

Hey champ,

OK, I know you can read a calendar, but in case you hadn’t realised, there’s only 12 WEEKS until 2018 is done and dusted.

Three months.

There’s a lot you can achieve in that time. So, I’m gonna issue you (and me!) a challenge.

Here goes:

If there’s a goal you set for 2018 that you haven’t achieved yet – let’s bloody well make it happen over the next twelve weeks!

AND before you click out of this email, annoyed that I’m asking you to add more to your To Do list, let me be clear: I know you’re busy.

So, I’m only going to share tips that will make achieving your goals easier.

OK? OK.

Right, so let’s kick off with Tip No. 1: Cut your goal a little slack.

What does that mean? Well, if your goal was to save $10,000 by the end of the year, but you haven’t yet saved a single cent, maybe you need to adjust your target figure to something more achievable within the next three months.

I’ll be honest, it feels weird for me to recommend a tip like this, because I’m all about setting big goals. Ones that scare you and excite you and compel you to act. That’s why I created School of Champions, to help people achieve goals like that!

But sometimes, it’s better to achieve a smaller version of your goal, than to achieve nothing at all.Tweet it!

I’m taking my own advice here too.

Over the next twelve weeks, (and once my foot heals up from surgery) I’m going to start training for my first event since having Hak!  I’ll be taking part in the Kathmandu Coast to Coast, held in NZ next February. It’s an epic bike/run/kayak adventure race and I’ve always wanted to do it!

BUT I’m not doing the full Coast to Coast. I’m doing the Mountain Run component of it. It’s  a 31.5km run up, as the name would imply, a mountain – go figure! 😂

I had the option of doing the full race, but the Mountain Run is a big enough goal for me right now. It’s going to force me to get back into a training regime and I’m gonna be really damn proud of myself when I get to the top of that mountain in Feb!

So, whatever your goal for 2018 is, consider making it a little more achievable.  

The confidence you get from achieving a smaller version of your goal will help create momentum – it will spur you on to achieve bigger and better things in 2019!

That’s something to be excited about.

    When I read the part about a goal for saving $10,000 that’s actually one of my goals this year. I even wrote done my budget and how much to save each paycheck. But that’s not my main goal. My main goal is to go out there and explore through traveling and trying new things. To not only go to work and school.

    I’m inspired by the fact that you will be running 31km up a mountain. I need to be driven as you are when it comes to achieving what I set my mind to do.

    I am gonna get myself a job! At the beginning of 2018 I left Denmark, my three grown up kids and my boyfriend for the winther! I had a dream to for fill. I went sailing on a sailboat from Hawaii to French Polynesia! And to be able to do so, I had to leave my job! So here I am: so so happy because I did make one of my dreams come true – but also unemployed!

      Wow, Mette, what an adventure! I’m also jobless in Denmark, haha! (apart from being a new mum 😉 Now that my baby is a bit more independant, I want to start working from home. My stepdad is an amazing artist, but struggles to sell his work in this digital age. I’m going to build him an online store and see how we go.

    Hi Turia, Your email came at just the right time. Every year I sign up to do a 12 week body transformation challenge. I love the way the workouts make me feel, I love the commitment I make to training and I love the results I get. I was all set to start my challenge back in April but the day before the official start date I fractured my back. I had just come back to training after 9 weeks recuperating from jaw and skull surgery so I was so bitterly disappointed and pretty peeved about it all. I am not good at sitting around doing nothing. Due to the nature of my fracture and the lack of healing I am unable to train like I used too. But I am now allowed to return to training all be it in a very different way than I am used too. So today I started my own 12 week body transformation challenge incorporating my new training guidelines and I am so excited. I know I can achieve great results and, after today’s workout, I know I will feel the same love after each training session. I am confident that this different version of training will be just as good and will set me up beautifully for starting 2019. I am sooooooo excited. Good luck with your own training.     So my champy has been all about getting active but I was somewhat derailed by pneumonia and then just letting ‘stuff’ get in the way. I’ve shaken that all off now, and have realised that there will ALWAYS be stuff to get in the way … IF I let it. So my champy is “I’m showing up” and I’m going to be 5kg less and much more active. I’m already doing daily workouts, and will bump that up with pilates and some gym/resistance training. My overall champy is to be in the best possible condition I can be when I hit 50 in a couple of years.

    I’m going to have my new website and social media links and pages set up to be ready to officially launch my business in 2019. I’ve been thinking about launching my Yoga Therapy business for 6 months and that’s enough thinking time. I’ve done the study, graduated and still teach yoga so I’m ready to take it up – phew!

    I’m going to continue to look for the job that’s perfect for me. I lost my job after 18 years. It blindsided me. I’m also, continuing on my journey of good health, self love and self worth. Something, that I put on the back burner for far too long🙏🏼

    Thanks turia….I am going to lose 8 kilos my the end of the year. That will put me 5 kilos above my goal weight but a lot closer than I am now. I have been overwhelmed by the larger goal and self sabotaging but this smaller goal seems achievable.

    Hi Turia, over the next 12 weeks I am going to work on myself. I am going to release 8kg and weigh 66kg. But more importantly I am going to love the journey and love myself for feeding my body with the right foods and not over eating. I am going to feel sexy and confident in my own skin and enjoy a lovely summer in my bikini with my boyfriend! Xx

    Hi Turia,
    I moved to England from Aus in January and due to a complete lifestyle upheaval coupled with injuries I haven’t been able to train (run) properly and have subsequently gained a lot of weight… my goal for the next 3 months is to lose 10kg now that I am getting back running and doing gym work too 💪🏻🤘🏻

    I too am going to try and get a job – mainly Christmas casuals which I can hopefully stay on next year. I’m heading into my last year of high school and want/need to earn some money to pay for university. Side note – Mette your sailing trip sounds awesome! Good for you for going and good luck on the job hunt. I’ve already started applying because of these encouraging emails I get from you Turia and so I would like to say thank you for motivating me.     I’m going to build my online business to be making $5,000 a month so I can drop the wkend job that I do. This will mean I get my wkends back with my family. And with 2 young kids it’s precious times right now x

    I’m going to move out of my parent’s house- thought I had a lead, but I got ghosted again 🙁 Housing is hard to find where I live. I want to do many more things as well but i’m not there yet. I’m turning 25. I recently kicked an addiction out of my life, and subscribing to your list was part of my healthy determination to be whole again.
    I feel like a little sprout again, and I have big goals- but i’m adjusting them, like you say.

    I was going to sort through the mountain of digital photos and put them into books. Have scaled that down to removing multiples and putting into years. But I have been delaying it so now I’m inspired to JFDI (as Michelle Bridges would say!)

    You got me this morning 😂 I’m going to leave a comment and commit my challenge of a walk and exercise EVERYDAY until the end of 2018 !!!! I live in a beautiful area with a bike track out my back gate and just don’t take advantage of it . I am 61 years old and feeling very sluggish and stiff , and as a consequence flat ,
    I did the Camino walk in Spain 4 years ago …. 800 kms and came back feeling so healthy , calm , positive so want to find that sense of peace and achievement again , as this flows on in my family and life .

    I’m starting training for UTA 50 run with the plan to get a regular run routine going by end of the year , something i’ve always struggled with. The UTA50 is my champie! Terrifying and excited 😬 So excited to see this blog as the Coast to Coast in NZ in 2019 is actually my ultimate Champie (and reason I signed up for the UTA50!). Any hot tips welcomed lol! Love that you continue to challenge yourself!! Hope you nail it 🙌

    I have an enormous amount of weight to lose (70-80kg). I had set a goal to lose a certain amount by the end of this year, but I have been completely off-track. Thank you for reminding me that even a much smaller loss in the next 12 weeks is far better than no loss at all. ❤️
