Are you colourblind?

Hey champ,

This blog is for anyone feeling a little bit low confidence or just ‘meh’.

If that’s you, run through this super quick activity with me.

Let’s start:

1. I want you to look around the room or place you’re in right now. Go on, have a good look.
2. Now, I want you to count the number of things you can see that are red.

OK, got them all?

3. Good. Now, close your eyes and tell me the number of things that were green.

Can you remember the green things? My guess is that you can’t really remember them.

Why?

Because you weren’t looking for them!

It’s true. We get what we look for.

So, if you’ve been feeling a bit low, unconfident, or self conscious lately, you need to change what you’re looking for in life.

If your outlook on life is “No one likes me, and I can’t do anything right”, or “Life’s a bitch and then you die 😞” then all you’re gonna see is evidence proving that statement right.

But if your outlook is “I’m a loveable legend with a kickass life 👊” or “Life happens for me, not to me”, you’re sure as hell gonna see the positives and feel good about your life.

You get what you look for, so look for the things that make you feel kick-ass.Tweet it!

Changing your mindset and your life comes down to making simple little mindset switches like this one.

They might be small, but they have a huge impact.

That’s why the strategies I share in my eBook Mindset Magic, and these weekly letters, are full of simple, easy-to-do strategies like this. Because when you put all these little tools together, you start to see massive results.

Now I wanna hear from you.

Tell me:

  1. If you’ve tried this technique before, and;

  2. What you’re going to start looking for.

  • No not tried this before, but it certainly works to confirm it’s true! So I am going to look more at the positive and good things in my life and not dwell on the negatives again…thank you!

This is a great exercise. I’ve been working on improving the lens I view my life through. This past March I quit a job where the senior manager I started to work more closely with was very negative and demeaning. After a year of dealing with that abuse and disrespect I quit and found another opportunity. However, the scars of that experience I still needed to work through since my confidence was the lowest it’s been and I felt so worthless. I quickly realized (while that manager was out of line and shouldn’t behave that way) there was a lot of internal work I needed to do. It has been a hard fought journey to speak kindly to myself and see the positive sides of life and people, but it’s worth it 100%. The quality of a life is more often than not in our own hands. Thank you so much for your content and great tools to help us on this journey!

I have a daughter (adult) who seems to pick the negative in many situations. So when she tells me something I reverse what she says into the positive. Probably drives her crazy but I hate seeing her feeling like a victim. I think I will give her a coin and when she feels a negative thought coming on, she has to flip the coin and find the positive. Suffering anxiety is so difficult but baby steps like you suggest are a good idea. Thank you

    1. No
    2. I try to see and concentrate on the positive things around me. I try to think about positive things.
