Well, Baby Hoskin is almost here!
As my due date gets closer, more people have been asking how I’m feeling about the birth.
“Are you nervous?” they’ll ask me.
Yeah, of course, with any big change approaching, there’s a certain element of uncertainty. And when you know that you’re going to experience pain, that can be pretty scary.
But I’m not looking at it that way.
I’m re-framing it.
It’s the same technique I use before every major surgery I have.
I write a list of all the bad things that could happen – it’s going to hurt, I don’t know if I can do it, what if I can’t handle the pain.
Then I write a list of all the good things – how grateful I am to still be here, to have a beautiful partner like Michael, and to get to experience this. How cool it will be to meet my son. That one day I’ll be able to watch him surfing, diving and hanging with Michael.
Then I’ve got a choice how I look at it.
I could look at it in the negative way, or the empowering way.
If I look at it in the empowering way, I feel better – so that’s the way I choose.
So, if there’s something you’re finding hard, or maybe even a little scary, try this exercise.
Sit down, write out your ‘bad things’ and ‘good things’ lists and then make the choice.
Let me know what choice you make in the comments below.
It’s good to remind yourself that you’re always in control of how you see the world. – Tweet it!
Alright, well champ, it’s time for me to say a mini goodbye.
I’m gonna take a bit of time off over the next month to just relax and chill with Michael (and Baby Hoskin when he gets here!).
But I don’t want to leave you without any motivation or inspo over December, so I’ve queued up some of my favourite strategies and stories to be sent out over the next month.
Don’t worry though, I will jump back in here to let you know when Baby Hoskin has arrived!
So, until then, enjoy the posts Virtual Turia has queued up for you – there’s some really good stuff in the mix (Virtual Turia has good taste).
Real Turia xx
PS – Also, did you know I’m selling a few signed copies of my books on my website? Just in time for Christmas – it’s almost like I planned it or something! ?
I’ve even bundled some signed copies of Everything To Live For and Unmasked, so you can save money when you buy them together.
Anyway, if you want to get a copy or bundle for someone you love (that includes yourself!), just head to the shop here.
Get your orders in before next week so we can ship it out to you in time (and yes, in case you were wondering, I make sure every order is packed by a Santa hat-clad member of Team Turia, while Wham!’s Last Christmas plays loudly in the background. You’re welcome).
