10 things that annoy me about Michael?

I know, I know, I can hear you already.
The man is lovely. He’s wonderful. A delight.

But! Here it is anyway …

10 things that annoy me about Michael:

  1. He catches fish but then buries the carcasses poorly, meaning for a good portion of the year, my house smells like rotting fish.

  2. He leaves toothpaste residue in the sink.

  3. His dress sense can be somewhat…. lacking.

  4. If I say “Michael!” he won’t say anything back, which leads me to say “MICHAELLLLL!” even louder. To which he will say “I heard you” and I’ll say “Well you didn’t say anything back”. It’s not a very empowering interaction ?

  5. He’s nice to everyone. I mean, this is ostensibly a great quality, but it does mean he says hello to literally everyone on the street, and enquires about how their renovations are going and if the health of their goldfish has improved since switching to organic fish food. Quick trips to town are not possible.

  6. He borrows my socks.

  7. He’s super relaxed. Which sometimes is awesome (“Oh darl, you spent $899 on a pair of roller blades that don’t work? Well, you probably should have researched them a bit better, but don’t get upset about it, it’s a mistake that anyone could make”) but sometimes, v. annoying (“Yeah, I’ll do the bins tomorrow darl, promise”).

  8. When driving, I like to fill the car up with petrol as soon as it hits a quarter full, so that I can appropriately allocate the time/location when I’ll fill up. He just keeps driving while the fuel light incessantly flashes (“She’ll be right darl”).

  9. He’s very, very calm. Again, a quality that sounds good in theory, but enrages me IRL. Case in point: when I was understandably (and appropriately) worried about the coronavirus pandemic, he encouraged me to just “Breathe it all out”.

  10. He’s often right. See above. Breathing is magnificent to de-stress and calm down.

You know what else annoys me?
